AU/BA
PURSUIT REAR BAR
FITTING INSTRUCTIONS
Procedure
-
1. Remove tail lights to gain access to the tailgate hinge
bolts.
2. Remove tailgate by undoing the four (4) hinge bolts and unhooking the wire cabling.
3. Then remove the existing rear bar from the ute. Usually a case of removing the rear skirt pods (if fitted), a bolt behind each of the two red reflectors, a bolt behind the number plate, and drill out the rivets along the top of the rear bar. This will allow the whole rear section to come off.
4. Remove the steel reo from the back of the tub and cut the two end pieces off as shown. (This steel reo is not on the AU, only the BA).
5. Re-fit the steel reo to its original mounting place.
6. You will now need to cut and lengthen the hole in the tub upwards for the spare wheel winder, as the hole in the pursuit bar is higher up (even from factory the hole is lengthened higher afterwards if it is a pursuit/pursuit 250).
7. To protect the side of the tray, place two strips of masking tape so that when pre-fitting the rear bar you will not scratch the paint.
7. Attach the supplied brackets to the rear bar and then sit the bar up in place on the back of the ute. From underneath, mark on the vehicle where the hole needs to be to secure the bracket in place, then remove the bar.
8. Drill out the marked holes and secure the brackets in place on the vehicle as shown below.
8. Drill and file out the holes for the number plate lights and then push the factory lights into place.
8. After mounting the reverse light onto the bar (applicable to all AU models and early BA models), remove the masking tape from the sides of the tray and then plug in the number plate lights and reverse light while carefully fitting the rear bar onto the back of the ute. Hold in place with the two bolts into the pre-fitted brackets (these will later be covered by the small red reflectors which can be stuck back on).
9. The sides can be secured with either sikaflex or double sided tap, applying pressure until dry, and then screws into the inside wheel arch (being careful not to tighten too much).
10. Before re-fitting tailgate, put some masking tape on the insides of the hinge recesses to avoid damage to paint from the tailgate.
10. Re-fit tailgate and then taillights to complete the job.
